Its been a while since I have updated my blog so today I decide its time to do so. Some intresting news is comming from engadget this morining. In a post titled “Hello hypervisor, I’m geohot,” hacker George Hotz is claiming he has cracked the PS3. George is well know to all of you Iphone freaks out there. So a claim from him should be taken seriously. He claims to have full read/write access to the system all done without a mod chip. He is not releasing any details on the exploit untill he’s cleaned it up a bit but he is saying that it “isn’t really patchable, but [Sony] can make implementations much harder,”. Sound familiar? It should, the PSP (1001 Fat-2001 Slim models) was found to have a service mode that allowed hackers the ability to write to the NAND with full read/write. The PS3 has a similar service mode but has been only used to unbrick it. I can only wonder if George Hotz has used a similar method we should know soon. It’s worth to note that the system has remained mostly uncompromised since its release to the market in November 2006. Let the Sony/hacker firmware wars begin!
